Former Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif claims his 2017 ouster was orchestrated by the country's former powerful military and intelligence chiefs after he was forced to resign following a corruption conviction. On Monday, Sharif spoke to leaders of his Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party via video link from London, where he has lived in exile since 2019. At the time - and despite being tried on corruption charges, which he has always denied - Sharif was allowed by the government of his successor, Prime Minister Imran Khan, to leave Pakistan for medical treatment abroad.
